Isabel Marant For H&M or How To Get Crushed By Fashionista Stampede / Isabel Marant za H&M ili Kako biti pregažen u stampedu fashionistica

We all know that feeling of wanting a designer piece so bad, that we end up thinking about it and saving for it for months. Once a year, all fashionistas have a chance to lay their hands on a quality designer piece of clothing and shoes for less, thanks to H&M and their designer collabos. Lanvin? Check (T-Shirt). Versace? Check (pants and bracelet). Marni? Check (sweater). Margiela? Check (skirt). Marant? Erm... not really.

Every year there is a Thursday in November that we all wait for, we know we will stay in line forever, rush to the shelves, be pushed by other women „in the know“, and yet, we just don't mind. There is a chance for everyone, even if it means getting to work an hour late. All this for one piece of fabric, you could ask? Well, call it a collectors habit, every year a special memory of my birthday in November and a very special memento from my favorite designers, for a fraction of the usual price. We are not models, not celebs, just two women with decent jobs that allow us to live properly, not to splurge on designer creations all year. A life we all want to lead, careless craziness for a silly cause, just for a day. Cricket and I have a deal every year that one of us goes to H&M early in the morning and gets an item we yearn for all year. Every year, we get that piece, maybe not The One, but then the one close to it. Modesty, I tell you.

November 14th 2013, Isabel Marant For H&M. Parisian chic in the center of Zagreb? Nothing more to add. We talked about it, prepared for it, wrote blog posts about it. Secretly, we hoped for the pre-sale invitation, but oh well, I already told you we were no models. Hope for online shopping at H&M.hr is by all means long gone, after all we happen to live in Croatia. We asked numerous times, there was no answer.

Therefore, we waited early in the cold for the paper bracelets to be distributed on Thursday morning, as promised.  Nothing. There was a stampede of women in front of the store, with no line to follow. Once the store opened, we were to find out that the key items were missing. Boots (37 please) I yearned for? Suit jacket I wanted to wear over my summer dress? Grey coat for Cricket to take her baby for a stroll in? None of that. Only a few remains of the „pre-sale“ for the celebs the night before. But why the celebs you would ask? Is there nothing sacred anymore? Isn't the main policy of H&M availability and focus on us, „regular“ women?

Late for work, only to see photos of the celeb bunch wearing „our“ pieces the night before (don’t they purchase the main Marant line, come to think of it?), carrying  numerous Isabel Marant For H&M bags and complaining about the crowd, the only thing we were left with were our PayPal accounts and eBay sellers.

Come to think of it, at least you get a good customer treatment on eBay. And no bruises.

Lanvin? Majica. Versace? Hlače i narukvica. Marni? Vestica. Margiela? Šos. Marant?

Nije li politika H&M-a dostupnost i usmjerenost “običnom” čovjeku?
