Mizon Hyaluronic Acid 100 Essence Review

I love Korean cosmetics! After my review of Mizon Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream and Aloe Vera 90 soothing gel, I got a chance to try Mizon Hyaluronic Acid 100 Essence, that I secretly yearned for. If you want to know how to use this essence, as well as what to do and how to use this essence, please read on.

Essences come from the Korean beauty routine, known for its 10 steps (some even say that the routine can have as much as 12 steps):
  1. make-up remover
  2. facial cleanser
  3. peeling
  4. tonic
  5. essence
  6. ampoule
  7. sheet mask (and all other kinds of different face masks)
  8. eye cream
  9. day cream
  10. night cream or treatment

The results that European and American women achieve with serum, Asian women achieve with a combination of essences and ampoules. Of course, today it is more than difficult to strictly divide an essence from a serum, because the textures of essences have become richer, and those of serums lighter. However, both products have enough precious ingredients for the well-being of the skin. For example, Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Serum is sold under the name Brown Bottle Essence in Korea.

Hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate is found in our skin naturally, but its amount decreases with age. It has the ability to absorb liquid in a 1000 times larger volume than their own and thus acts like a sponge. Mizon essence with concentrated hyaluronic acid moisturizes the skin, prevents moisture loss, restores elasticity of the skin and reduces wrinkles. It is suitable for all skin types, over 20 years of age. A few drops should be massaged and tapped into cleansed face. It is recommended to gently press clean palms on the face after tapping in the essence, for better absorption. Mizon hyaluronic acid can be used before day or night cream, or if you use a night mask, it can also be used in combination with it, just add a couple of essence drops to or under the mask.

Mizon Hyaluronic Acid 100 Essence contains 50% hyaluronic acid, which binds water, builds collagen and makes the skin smooth and elastic. Also, the tripeptide contains copper, hydrogenated lecithin, cholesterol and ceramide, which improve skin elasticity, as well as adenosine, arnica blossom extract, Baikal root cap and purslane. It contains no alcohol, fragrances, parabens, mineral oils, nor artificial colors. It
instantly deeply hydrates and leaves skin moisturised for a long time after the application. It is not comedogenic and will not clog pores. Price for 30 ml is app. USD 15 (17 EUR) and can be purchased here or here.

Concentrated hyaluronic acid is always a great idea. Clear slippery watery liquid is packaged in a glass bottle with pipette and can be easily dispensed at will.

It might take a couple of times to determine the ideal amount for your face and neck (and cleavage if desired). Hyaluronic Acid Essence has no scent and is instantly soaked into the skin. It can be used morning and/or evening, but my favorite way is to apply it before the day cream and under a sheet mask. My normal and dehydrated face absorbs it instantly and it does not remain sticky nor greasy. Mizon Hyaluronic Acid Essence is suitable for all skin types, even combination and oily. Dry skin girls will need to apply a day cream over the essence. After first usage I felt that my skin was softer and moisturized to the touch and after 30-days usage, I am pleased to report that this essence made my face considerably more hydrated, smoother and plumper. The edges of my face are usually always extremely dry in springtime, regardless of the cream I tend to use, but when I touch my face now, I can not get enough of how soft and velvety to the touch my skin is.

What I liked:

  • viscous-watery texture
  • no alcohol, fragrances, parabens, mineral oils, nor artificial colors
  • essence can be used morning and evening, instead of serum and before cream or face mask
  • quick absorption
  • pipette packaging for a hygienic usage
  • contains 50% hyaluronic acid

What I did not like:

  • I had absolutely no complaints, Mizon could have written 50 (hyaluronic acid percentage) instead of 100 in the name, because it could be a bit misleading

If you have dehydrated skin like me, if you have not yet entered the magical world of essences and do not know what you should choose to help your thirsty and tired skin, Mizon Hyaluronic Acid 100 Essence is an excellent addition to your daily routine. Have you ever used any essences, serums or treatments with hyaluronic acid?
