5 Best & 5 Worst Beauty Products in 2016

Athough it seems that 2017 started a long time ago, it is never too late to mention a few beauty products that surprised me in 2016. Although I already have developed methods of buying beauty products, mistakes happen even to the best of us! :) Take a look at the top and flop 5 beauty products in 2016!

Top 5 2016

1. Foreo Luna 2 for Sensitive Skin

I got seriously hooked on Foreo Luna 2: it reduces unwanted pimples and pores, changes your skin's appearance and improves its firmness. Although expensive, it really pays off to save money for it. Once you try the sonic anti-aging massage and feel how this gadget made out of finest medical silicone deep cleans your skin, you won't be able to stop using it. No worries about germs and water-resistance either, as Luna 2 is resistant to both. After 4 months of using this baby, I still haven't had to charge it. Expect visible improvement after app. 45-60 days and be patient, it pays off.

2. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

My liners need to be waterproof, as only those survive heat and tears. Also, the pen tip needs to be thin and precise and they shouldn't get dry after only 2 weeks. Only this, you say? :) Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is the best pen-tip eyeliner I have ever tried. I read great things about Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, but since I don't have access to it, I will definitely be using Stila permanently.

3. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I'll be honest, Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate was not love at first sight. When I received the my first sample, my skin was already in a poor state from trying out various products, and the Midnight Recovery was the main suspect for a couple of unwanted acne. When I got the full-size for my birthday, I simply had to give it another chance. In short, I can no longer be without it and I don't understand how I ever could. My face absorbs it instantly, makes my skin soft and radiant the following morning.

4. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation

I wrote a thorough review of Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion powder (you can translate it from here), and I still have not changed my mind that this is the best cushion powder I have ever tried. It is so good that I am considering a refill.

5. MAC Strobe Cream

For years I had been avoiding MAC Strobe cream, because I never knew what Strobe Cream actually did. First off, we need to forget that in most reviews say that this is a highlighter. When we stop thinking of it as just another liquid highlighter, it opens up a whole new range of options. Since I am not a fan of liquid highlighter, I bought a travel size of Strobe Cream and hoped for the best. Not only that it that suited my skin perfectly, but it won me completely. Long story short, if your face looks tired, if your complexion is gray and lifeless, just apply Strobe Cream after serum, as a day cream. Then, apply a powder or BB / CC cream on top of it. This will delight all lovers of healthy and glowy skin. Additionally, Strobe Cream contains antioxidants and nourishes the skin. If you are too shy for a full-on glow, just apply it under your foundation, after a day cream, to the prominent parts of the face (cheekbones, nose, below the eyebrows), for a discreet and natural glow.

Flop 5 2016

1. Essence Superfine Waterproof Eyeliner Pen and Catrice Waterproof Eyeliner

As much as I love Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, that much I hate both of these waterproof eyeliners. I threw out both of them almost immediately, as no one wants to look like a racoon. Serves me right for wanting to save money on things you're not supposed to be saving on.

2. Phyto Phytocyane Shampoo

Since I am almost always experimenting with hair products, Phyto seemed like a nice option. It claims that it helps with hair density and prevents it from falling out, but all I got was a messy, unruly hair that couldn't be combed, no matter how much conditioner and hair oil I used over it.

3. Toning hair lotion (ehoton)

I have no idea if you remember those old-school hair toning lotions that our grannies used to use? In any case, if you think that it will keep your hair grey, it won't. In fact, it won't do a single thing. Obviously, there is a reason why hairstylist use regular toners and dyes. :)

4. Diorshow Extase mascara

I never knew what to think when bloggers write that with some products have love-hate relationship, but it is this expression of what best describes my use of Dior Extase mascara. On some days my eyelashes look wonderful, long and voluminous, but most days mascara does not do anything, and even with it, and mapping to the upper eyelid. Sometimes you need to know to give up the time.

5. Garnier Skin Active Hydra Bomb Sheet Mask

Maybe I've been spoiled by Korean sheet masks, but I simply hated Garnier Skin Active Hydra Bomb Sheet Mask. It was uncomfortable, dried on my face after less than 10 minutes and didn't give my skin any hydration. To the bin it went.

Have you tried any of these beauty products and what are your tops and flops of 2016?
