New In February & March

It seems that every spring my desire for make-up hauls grows just a tiny bit, so I brought some new stuff into my make-up routine.Since I got tired with my old-school brushes, I invested into Real Techniques Your Base Core Collection Gift Set, as well as into some new powders and new YSL mascara. Take a look into my new make-up additions and short reviews based on their short-term performance.

Real Techniques Your Base Core Collection Gift Set

Usually, when purchasing a brush set, it is a miracle if you end up using half of them. However, since I bought this practical Core Collection Set, I have been using all of these soft and dense brushes. My favorite is definitely Sculpting Brush (I ended up using the NYX one as a highlighter brush), but the Concealer and Buffing Brushes are equally amazing. The only one that I use for a different purpose is the Foundation Brush (it is good as an all-over eyeshadow brush), as I prefer using RT Expert Face Brush for my liquid foundations. The brushes don't shed and I intend on buying the eyeshadow set as well. You can buy these here.

Dior Lash Maximizer & YSL Mascara The Shock Underground Blue

Since there is nothing more to say about Dior Lash Maximizer (you can read about it here), there sure is about the new YSL Mascara The Shock (bought here). It gives great volume, doesn't smudge and has absolutely no fallout. However, if you prefer length and easy mascara removal, as well as hate spidery lashes, you might steer away from this one. Since I love "grungy" looking lashes and use a separate eye make-up remover for waterproof mascara, The Shock mascara has grown on me and comes close second to my beloved YSL False Lash Effect Mascara in Blue. This blue is however deeper and more muted.

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre (Natural Finish Loose Powder)

As a long-term user of La Prairie Cellular Treatment Loose Powder (love), I wanted to try a different loose powder this time, that would of course look nice on my make-up counter. Since my skin is normal to slightly dry/dehydrated, with an occasional shine on my T-zone, I need my loose powder to look natural, hold my make-up in place and not to have a flashback in photos at night. I feel that Universelle Libre is not as fine milled as the La Prairie one, but looks incredibly natural and keeps my shine at bay. Also, I have to remember once for all that I should not listen to a salesperson when it comes to colors. Contrary to my wishes, she matched me with 20 Clair (Translucent 1) for my NC25 skin. I came home and saw it being far too light so I exchanged it back to my previously wanted 30 Naturel (Translucent 2) and thank God I did, as I would look like a ghost with a lighter color on.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Feels and looks like silk, but be cautious if your skin is dry or very dehydrated. However, since I needed a nice medium coverage foundation without SPF, I followed the Internet advice and ventured into its Luminous world. I could have also gone with 5.5. instead of 5, but I will have to manage now :) Luminous Silk is light to medium coverage at its best (I sort of imagined it being medium to full) with satin finish. I like it but I stay fond of Guerlain foundations more, as they seem to melt with my natural skin chemistry.

Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate

After I fell in love with the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate, on Valentine's Day I bought myself this daily version that nurtures my skin, makes it look alive and prepares it for my daily cream and foundation. If your skin is dry and/or dehydrated, this is the solution.

Kiehl's Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque

My third mask from Kiehl's feels and smells nice, gives a nice glow and brings back circulation to a tired face. I use it once a week and am pretty pleased with it, as it gives life to my face.

Jack Black Jack's Escentuals & The Best Of Jack Gift Set

Every woman would be just a bit jealous of Jack Black's Cosmetics concept and products. I got hooked on their Mint Lip Balm a long time ago, so I treated my fiance with this gift for Valentine's Day. Since he is a not a man of much words when it comes to beauty products (go figure), I will just let you know that he has been using them regularly, which makes me believe that he likes them. I must "borrow" the shower gel and lip balm for a more thorough opinion :D

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte & Voluminous Mascara Carbon Black

As much as I thought I'd hate the Pro Matte 24h foundation, that much I was wrong. Although I have normal to slightly dry skin, this foundation looks like the most expensive velvet and feels very light on my skin. I got it in 20 Sand for my NC25 skin and up to now am seriously liking it. My delightment disappeared when it comes to Voluminous Mascara though. I wanted a WP version of this mascara (one of Patrick Ta's favorites), but this one is simply too natural looking for my taste.

MAC Work It Out In Extreme Dimension Mascara Hold For 10 & Prep+Prime Fix+ Coconut & Pro Longwear Lip Pencil Posy Perfect

As I was writing this post, my naughtiness took me to a MAC store and oh, Work It Out collection just came out. I haven't even gotten to opening these three beauties, but see for yourself how pretty they look! The cobalt blue mascara is a staple of mine and I can't wait to try this one out, as I haven't tried a MAC mascara for ages. I also fell in love with Fix+, it just makes my make-up look better, so this coconut version will sure come in handy for summer. Also, I can't wait to try the long-wearing lip pencil in muted light pink.

Have you tried any of these products and what do you think of them? Have you gotten anything merely interesting in the last couple of months?
